Designing a modular cleanroom is a high-stakes engineering challenge. Every detail—from airflow patterns and filtration layouts to wall panel joints—must be precisely coordinated to meet strict cleanliness standards such as ISO 14644. Today, 3D design and BIM (Building inforamtion modeling ) have become indispensable tools for transforming this complex process into a streamlined, error-free workflow.
Unlike a generic 3D model that primarily delivers visual form, a BIM model embeds rich, structured data into every component. Each wall panel, HEPA filter, air duct, and service outlet carries attributes such as material grade, dimensions, maintenance schedules, and cost. For modular cleanrooms, this is transformative: designers can verify that each prefabricated module complies with classification requirements before it ever reaches the site.
BIM also supports multi-disciplinary collaboration across architecture, structural engineering, and MEP design . Because mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are deeply intertwined with cleanroom performance, having a single shared model eliminates the silos that traditionally cause costly rework
